Medical and Psychiatric Social Work

This programme gives an orientation to students on health, health care and mental health. Students have opportunities to work in Medical, Psychiatric and Community health settings. There is also scope for placement in substance abuse prevention programmes, Hospitals, Child guidance and counselling centres, schools, research organisations and public health programmes in both the Government and voluntary sector at National and International levels.

Urban and Rural Community Development

The specialisation qualifies students to work in natural resources management, gender justice, human rights, education, health and disaster management. Job opportunities also exist as project officers in various Government and non-Government agencies, and development consultants at National and International levels.

Criminology and Correctional Administration

Employment opportunities in police in prisons, juvenile homes, social welfare departments and other departments involved in correctional work with adult offenders and juvenile delinquents; in voluntary organisations; walking with women in distress, children in difficult circumstances, human rights organisations, Research and Teaching Institutes.
