LISSAH is situated at Kaithapoil, 40 kms away from Calicut in the foot-hills of Western Ghats on Calicut - Mysore - Bangalore National High Way (NH 212). Building:The College building is specially desivgned for a social research institute with all necessary facilities like well furnished class rooms, staff rooms, seminar halls, computer lab, audio-visual room, psychology lab and a well stocked library. The well equipped auditorium is used by students for their cultural programmes and other meetings.
Library: The Institute has a well equipped and spacious library. Almost all latest books on social work, psychology, literature, journalism, visual media and its related subjects are available in the library. Local and national dailies, periodicals, journals, magazines etc. are placed in the library for reading and reference. Above all, the students are motivated to make use of the library facilities to the maximum under the constant care of a well experienced librarian.
Placement Cell: A Placement Cell is operating in the college to identify job opportunities for the students. This cell works in collaboration with various agencies engaged in social work, management, media and communication in different parts of the country. Campus recruitments are also organized by the placement cell
Computer Lab: The sophisticated computer lab with internet facility is yet another great attraction of LISSAH. It gives the students cutting edge technology to tap the advantages of the information science. The lab is managed by highly qualified and well experienced faculty. The students are encouraged to make use of these facilities to enhance their study and research.
Spoken English and Creative Writing: LISSAH gives special attention to the communication skills of the students. We organize special courses in spoken English and creative writing to improve their proficiency in communication skills.
Hostel: The College has hostels for both boys and girls. Girls’ hostels are run by the Sisters and the admissions to the hostels are made only after the student is admitted to the college. Recreational facilities are attached to the hostels.
Refreshments and stationery: The staff and students can avail the canteen facilities and the essential stationery items within the campus.
Health Dialogue, Kozhikode: A registered charitable society engaged in community health and development programme. HDK functions as the field lab and the students are given field work exposure and placement through it. A LISSAH extension for Research and Training (ALERT) also helps students to reach out to the community with palliative care, medical camp, PRA, counselling and many training programmes in collaboration with local panchayats and various NGOs.
